Filmfare Awards, 1963
Best Supporting Actor- Mehmood

Dil Tera Deewana won Mehmood a Filmfare Award for his comedic role in this tale of false identity.  Mehmood delivered one of the best performances of his vast career in this film.  He shared the screen with Shammi Kapoor, Mala Sinha, Pran and Om Prakash. Dil Tera Deewana also gained popularity for its music by Shankar Jaikishan.  The song ‘Dil Tera Deewana Hai Sanam’ was a huge hit, and marked the first time in Hindi cinema an entire song sequence was filmed in heavy rain.

"Dil (heart) and deewana (crazy) are two of the most common words found in Hindi film titles, even today. This film is a classic narrative about a love triangle, conveyed in the showcard by a floating, cut-out photograph of a male head and an embracing couple.  The creative flourish of the trail of smoke that meanders from the cigarette upward, graphically uniting the different elements of the composition.

The film Dil Tera Deewana (1963) was produced by Padmini Pictures and directed by B. Ramakrishnaiah. Music by Shankar Jaikishen. Black and white, Hindi, starring Shammi Kapoor, Mala Sinha, and Mehmood."
